A recent settlement with NIH shows the value of reviewing contract records to see if any other issues remain unresolved. While negotiating a settlement for costs incurred by a client during an extension period, we learned that an old CBA adjustment request from several years ago was still outstanding. We were able to wrap that amount into the pending settlement and close out all issues with the agency. Lesson learned: track all requests for adjustment and possible claim issues as they arise so that you don't inadvertently overlook something during or after contract close-out.
